Paula Valle Garcia (PVG) is a Spanish-born, London-based visual artist whose practice explores the physical forms that emotional and inner states can take.

Working with oil paint, oil sticks, pastels, acrylic and spray paint, she creates layered figurative characters distinguished by saturated colour, exaggerated features and recurring, moody eyes.

Her figures hold contradictory states at once: fragility and defiance, confidence and doubt, tenderness and discomfort. Rather than resolving those tensions, the paintings give them a physical presence.

The work begins with observation of the small gestures, expressions and behaviours through which something internal becomes visible.
